The Golden Eagles softball team defeated occidental college
4-3 on the second game of the double-header on Friday afternoon. The first game
started with Occidental College taking an early 2-0 lead during the first
inning. The Golden Eagles scored a run during the second inning before allowing
the tigers to score 2 more runs during the bottom of the second. By the end of
the fifth inning, the Tigers were leading 5-1.
La Sierra came out strong and scored five runs during the
fifth inning. By the end of the 5th, the score was 6-6. Both teams
went scoreless during the 7th inning sending this first game to
extra innings. The Golden Eagles fail to score any runs during the top of the

Hannasch hit a single allowing Kristine
Kocjan to score the winning run for the tigers.
Vanessa McGowen led the Golden Eagles with 2 hits, 2 runs,
and one RBI. Gabrielle Bartkowski got 2 hits, and 2 RBIs. The other runs were
scored by Barbara Torres, Raeven Ball, Cat Ogle, and Shelby Daniel.
For the second game, the Golden Eagles would take a 1-0 lead
during the first inning. Melissa Ortiz scored the first run after hitting a
double to left field. Ortiz scored on Ball's grounded out to 2b. The next 3
runs for the Golden Eagles would come during the top of the third inning.
Michelle Zimprich single to pitcher and eventually would score after Melissa
Ortiz hit another double to left field. Ortiz scored the second run after
Raeven Ball singled to left field. Vanessa McGowen singled to left field
allowing Ball to score the third run in the 3rd inning for the
Golden Eagles.
The Tigers scored their 3 runs during the bottom of the
fourth inning. Meghan Luera, KristineKocjan, and Patrice Phillimeano scored for
the Tigers.
La Sierra won the second game by a score of 4-3. Melissa
Ortiz scored twice and had an RBI. Raeven Ball got a run and 2 RBIs. Vanessa
McGowen recorded the other RBI.
