Prescott, Ariz. - Despite a slow start, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team defeated Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in five sets, 10-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-15, 15-10.
Embry-Riddle wasted no time jumping out to an early 1-0 lead in the match, by dominating the first set and eventually winning 25-10.
The Golden Eagles answered back in Set 2 to even the match at 1-1, but Embry-Riddle squeaked out a 26-24 win in Set 3 to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
On the verge of losing their second Cal Pac match of the season, La Sierra won Set 4 in convincing fashion, 25-15, forcing a fifth and final set. They would eventually secure the match victory with a 15-10 win in Set 5.
Lina Semaia matched her kills total from Tuesday night, with 26 kills to go along with 11 digs.
Robyn Miller added 18 kills and 14 digs, while Erin Miller finished with 13 kills and 10 digs.
Chantel Washington led all players with 32 digs, with Angie Gonzalez tallying 51 total assists in the match.
The win keeps the Golden Eagles atop the conference standings, with a record of 5-1 in Cal Pac play (6-12 overall).
With the exception of Pacific Union College, the Golden Eagles will begin their second trip around the conference starting this weekend when they host Simpson University, on Saturday night. Prior to that match, La Sierra will travel to San Marcos for a non-conference match on Thursday. Four of the Golden Eagles six regular season matches will be on the road.
