Women's Volleyball Clinch Playoff Berth With Win Over Simpson

Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team moved to 6-1 in conference play after defeating Simpson University in straight sets (25-11, 25-16, 25-17).

With the win the Golden Eagles clinched a berth in the Cal Pac Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament. La Sierra University will host the postseason tournament, on November 13 and 15.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time taking control of the match as they jumped all over the Red Hawks in Set 1. The Golden Eagles cruised to a 24-11 victory.

Set 2 started in a much different fashion with both teams going back-and-forth, until the Golden Eagles 5-0 run (trailing 5-6) that vaulted them to a 25-16 win.

Taking no chances, La Sierra maintained their focus and execution toward a 25-17 decision in Set 3, to take the match 3-0.

Lina Semaia had a very efficient evening with 15 kills, with only two errors, and 26 total attempts, for a .500 hitting percentage. Semaia also added eight digs.

Robyn Miller added 12 kills, with only three errors, on 26 attempts (.346). She also contributed eight digs of her own.

Erin Miller added eight kills, six digs, and four block assists, while Chantal Washington led all players with 19 digs and Angie Gonzalez tallied 38 assists.

The Golden Eagles have four matches remaining on their regular season schedule. On Tuesday they will travel back to Hope International for their final non-conference match of the season. The will close out he regular season with three straight Cal Pac matches, two of which will come on the road next weekend. La Sierra will visit Menlo College on Friday afternoon, followed by a Saturday night match-up with the University of California – Merced.
