Men's Basketball Defeated By The Master's

Santa Clarita, Calif. - The men's basketball team dropped their second consecutive game to start the season, falling 91-74 at The Master's College.

The Golden Eagles and Mustangs played a back-and-forth affair for much of the first half, which included four ties and each team holding their share of the lead. But with the scored tied at 35-35, with 3:47 to play in the first half, the Mustangs went on a 10-0 run to take a 45-35 lead into halftime.

And Andre Marquez jumper cut the lead to 47-39 in the opening minutes of the second half, but that's as close as the Golden Eagles would get. The Mustangs methodically built their lead to as many as 23 points (75-52) at the midway point of the second half, cruising to the 91-74 victory.

Andre Marquez shot an efficient 10-of-15 from the field, leading the Golden Eagles with 21 points, in addition to four rebounds and three assists.

Reynaldo Solarzano added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Chris Patureau and Russell Byrd, who each scored 27 points, accounting for more than half of the team's points, led the Mustangs.

With the loss, the men's basketball team falls to 0-2 on the season. The team will now set their sights on a re-match with Biola University, on the road, this coming Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will look to even the season series after dropping their season opener to Biola this past Thursday.
