Redding, Calif. – The men's basketball team dropped an 81-72 decision to Simpson University, on Thursday night. Despite shooting over 50 percent in the second half, the Golden Eagles were unable to cool a hot-shooting Red Hawks squad who connected on 15-of-25 shots in the second half to remain unbeaten in conference play.
The Red Hawks shot a blistering 6-of-8 from the three-point line in the second half, and finished 11-of-22 for the game.
On the flip side the Golden Eagles shot a respectable 42 percent from the field, including 6-of-17 from beyond the arc (35%), falling short in tonight's Cal Pac match-up.
Robert Looper led the team with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Isaiah Hawkins added 16 points of his own, while Andre Marquez led the team with six rebounds to go along with nine points and four assists.
The Red Hawks had three players who scored in double figures, led by Dalton Thacker who scored 26 points, including 5-of-6 from the three-point line.
The Golden Eagles men's basketball team is now 1-2 in Cal Pac play (1-15 overall). The will play the second game of a doubleheader, on Saturday night, when the Golden Eagles travel to Vallejo, Calif., for a match-up with the Keelhaulers of California Maritime Academy, the defending conference champions.
