Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight

Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team pushed their winning streak to four with a 3-1 (25-10, 25-14, 17-25, 25-6) victory over Providence Christian College tonight at the Alumni Pavilion. It was the first match back on the Golden Eagles home court after playing a stretch of six straight matches on the road. The win pushes their overall record to 9-7 on the season.

Aside from being outplayed in Set 4, the Golden Eagles dominated the match. They led in almost every statistical category and controlled play throughout the match. La Sierra also took advantage of 32 attack errors by the Sea Beggars, and a hitting percentage on the minus side.

Oustide hitter Caitlin Marinos led the way with nine kills and 15 kills, both team highs. Erin Miller followed with seven kills in the match. Samantha Marquez also tallied six kills, while Abby Latuhoi and Tiana Alefaio each contributed five kills of their own.

Once again, the team controlled the play at the net with 14.5 blocks. The Golden Eagles were led by Latuhoi who finished with seven block assists on the night. They also helped themselves out at the service line with 12 service aces, against only four service errors.

Setter Marissa Fregoso paced the offense with a team-high 15 assists. Fregoso was followed by Lindsey Redfield who added seven assists in the match.

The women's volleyball team will now set their sights on a rematch with UC Merced this Thursday evening. The Bobcats, who were just one point away from a straight set victory on Saturday, will be looking to avenge their 3-2 loss to the Golden Eagels and even the season series. Thursday contest is scheduled to start at 7pm at the Alumni Pavilion.
