Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Soccer Suffers First Cal Pac Loss

Riverside, Calif. - The men's soccer team dropped their first conference match of the season, 3-0, to #12 Marymount University. Mingyu Wee and the Golden Eagles (6-3-1, 4-1-1) were held scoreless for the first time in the last seven matches. It is the first match since September 3, when La Sierra travelled to San Diego Christian, that the Golden Eagles failed to score at least one goal.

The Mariners (7-2-1, 5-0) scored their first goal just seven minutes into the match when Kahraman Damar scored from the right hand side of the box. Damar is the team's leading goal scorer and the leading goal scorer in the Cal Pac conference.

Marymount took the 1-0 advantage into the halftime break, before adding two more goals in the second half. A goal by Angel Cedeno Chakour (assisted by Felipe Garcia DaSilva) increased the lead to 2-0 with 16 minutes remaining in the match. Da Silva added a goal of his own in the 85th minute.

Despite being outshot by the Mariners 18-9 in total shots, the Golden Eagles were efficient with their shots. La Sierra finished with five shots on goal compared to eight for the Mariners. Wee had one of the best chances to tie the score at 1-1 late in the first half but his free kicked sailed just wide of the top left corner.

The team will have a week off from action before playing host to the University of Antelope Valley, next Wednesday, at 6pm.
