Wee Scores Four Goals In Win Over Providence

Riverside, Calif. - The men's soccer team concluded their 2015 season with a convincing 7-2 win over Providence Christian College. Mingyu Wee closed the season out on a high note by scoring four goals in the match. Prior to the match the Golden Eagles Athletic Department and the men's soccer program recognized the two seniors on this year's roster. Saturday's match marked the end of goalkeeper Robert Rodriquez and midfielder Dakota Shelton's collegiate soccer career.

Shelton scored (unassisted) La Sierra's final goal of the night late in the second half. Wee got the Golden Eagles off and running with two goals, only four minutes apart, to take a 2-0 lead just 22 minutes into the match. Wee added another goal just before the half, to push La Sierra's lead to 3-1. His final goal of the season and 16th goal of the year was scored midway through the second half.

Also factoring into the scoring for the Golden Eagles was Noe Garcia (one goal and one assist) and Youngbae Kweon (one goal and one assist).

La Sierra who needed some help to get into the Cal Pac Men's Soccer Tournament, we officially eliminated on Sunday afternoon when Embry-Riddle claimed the final playoff spot in the South Division by defeating Soka University. The win vaulted the Eagles past La Sierra by one point in the conference standing, taking the number two slot from the South Division.

With the win, the men's soccer team improved to 6-4-2 in Cal Pac play (9-6-2 overall). With the young nucleus set to return, the Golden Eagles will now set their sights on 2016. Please stay tuned over the next few months for men's soccer recruiting updates.

In addition to recognizing the senior, the athletic department and men's soccer program recognized former players, coaches, and other supporters for all of their support and contributions over the years.
