Volleyball Season Ends With Loss to #19 Southern Oregon in NAIA Opening Round

Ashland, Ore. - The women's volleyball season came to a close tonight with a 3-1 loss at No.19 Southern Oregon University in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament. The Raiders advanced to pool play in Sioux City, Iowa by defeating the Golden Eagles.

The Raiders jumped out to the early lead with a 25-18 win in Set 1, but the Golden Eagles quickly evened the match with a 25-17 win in Set 2. Determined to avoid an upset, Southern Oregon responded by winning Sets 3 and 4 quite handily, 25-11 and 25-15.

Emma Gasman led all hitters with 15 kills on 24 attempts, against only two hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .542. The Raiders tallied a total of 64 digs, who were paced by Ashlynn Flynn and Tyana Andrews who finished with 16 digs and 15 digs, respectively.

In the final match of their career, Caitlin Marinos and Abby Latuhoi led the way with 11 kills each. Samantha Marquez added nine kills, along with Taylor Moran who also contributed nine kills in the match.

The women's volleyball team finished the season with a record of 18-10 on the year. It was a year that saw them go 7-3 in the Cal Pac as the team won their first ever Cal Pac Tournament Championship, adding to the tally of their two regular season championships in the previous two seasons.
