Riverside, Calif. - Looking to avenge their opening season loss at San Diego Christian College, the women's basketball team played host to the Hawks in tonight's non-conference match-up. But after the dust had settled, the Hawks once again walked away with a 76-55 victory over La Sierra.
Through one quarter of play, the Golden Eagles trailed 17-14. The team pulled to within one point of evening the score, but the Hawks outscored La Sierra 23-12 for the remainder of the quarter, to take a 40-28 lead into the half.
But it was the third quarter when the Hawks distanced themselves for good, outscoring the Golden Eagles 22-6, on their way to victory.
Kristen Brummett finished with a game-high 16 points and five rebounds. Chelsie Baham tallied 11 points and seven rebounds. Kailee Maeda contributed six points and led the team with four assists, while Alexis Davis added seven points, six rebounds, and a team-high four steals.
The Golden Eagles had a positive showing from the free-throw line, as they connected on 15 of 16 total attempts.
The loss drops the women's basketball team to 0-5 on the season. After taking a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday, the women's basketball team will head back out on the road when they travel to Vanguard University, on Tuesday, December 1.
