Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls To Oxy and Redlands

The Golden Eagles (0-7) women's basketball team traveled to Occidental College this week before returning to their home court for a match-up with the University of Redlands. La Sierra dropped both contests to the SCIAC Conference opponents by final scores of 68-44 (Occidental) and 71-44 (Redlands).

At Occidental, the Golden Eagles trailed by seven points at the half, but La Sierra was outscored 21-6 in the third quarter, which in large part decided the 68-44 outcome in Thursday night's game.

Chelsie Baham and Alexis Davis led the team in scoring with 15 points and 14 points, respectively. Afolake Akingba, Korie Siets, and Davis each pulled down five rebounds to lead the team, while Davis also dished out a team-high four assists.

On Saturday night, a slow start proved to be to big of a hurdle for the Golden Eagles to get over, in their loss to the Bulldogs. The Golden Eagles trailed 11-4 after one quarter of play and 28-14 at the half. La Sierra scored a season-high 21 points in the third quarter, but gave up 26 points in the process and were unable to cut into the Bulldogs lead, eventually falling, 71-44.

Rachel Hahn connected on three field goals and went 5-for-5 from the charity stripe to lead La Sierra with 11 points, while Kristen Brummett scored 10 points, on 5-of-8 shooting, and tallied seven rebounds. Baham and Davis led the team with eight rebounds apiece.

The team will take a short break for final exams this next week, before another match-up with Pomona-Pitzer College on Thursday evening. The Sagehens defeated the Golden Eagles 72-58, back on November 19.
