Men's Soccer Notches First Win Of Season

Aliso Viejo, Calif. - Overcoming an early deficit, the Golden Eagles (1-2, 1-0) men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season, 2-1, in tonight's conference match at Soka University (0-2, 0-1). All three goals in the match were scored in the first half, as the Golden Eagles controlled play for much of the 90 minutes.

Soka jumped out to the early 1-0 lead when Jonathan Junqua intercepted a pass and played it through to Bryce Arenson (26th minute) who found the back of the net.

La Sierra answered right back when Youngbae Kweon intercepted a missed clearance launching a shot from the 18-yard box and past Soka's goalkeeper, Ryan Schmucker, for an unassisted goal (27th minute), tying the score at 1-1.

Approximately 10 minutes later, Mingyu Wee put the Golden Eagles ahead for good when he scored off of a cross pass from Noe Garcia, in the 38th minute.

The Golden Eagles outshot Soka by a margin of 23-10 (6-3 in shots on goal) in the match.

A power outage, lasting approximately 25 minutes, midway through the second half delaying the Golden Eagles their first victory of the season. After power was restored, La Sierra hung on for their first conference win of the season as well.
