Riverside, Calif. - Yungbae Kweon had a goal and an assist in today's 2-1 victory over Simpson University. La Sierra pushed their Cal Pac Conference record to 2-0 on the season (3-2 overall), outshooting the Red Hawks 26-15 (13-8 in shots on goal).
Kweon started the scoring with a goal in the 41st minute on an assist from Dakota Shelton to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0.
La Sierra took the lead into the halftime break and later pushed their lead to 2-0, midway through the second half, when Mingyu Wee scored on an assist by Kweon in the 60th minute.
Mitch Boyle pulled the Red Hawks to within one, with a goal in the 65th minute. Boyle finished with four of Simpson's eight total shots on goal.
Robert Rodriquez picked up his third win of the season while tallying seven saves on the afternoon.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Golden Eagles who will host UC Merced in another Cal Pac match-up, on Sunday afternoon, at 12pm. The Bobcats are currently 4-1-1 on the season. Sunday's match with La Sierra will be their conference opener.
