Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls to Merced

Riverside, Calif. - The women's basketball team returned home after a trip up north that saw them split a pair of two Cal Pac contests. On Thursday evening, the team played host to the University of California – Merced in a rematch of last year's Cal Pac conference championship game. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles were unable to bring about a different outcome, as the Bobcats prevailed by a final of 66-53.

La Sierra played one of the best two quarters of basketball of the season, taking a slim 34-32 lead into the halftime break. Merced came out of the half and held La Sierra to just six points in the third quarter, and outscored the Golden Eagles 34-19 in the second half.

Senior Kristen Brummett was the only Golden Eagles player to score in double figures. She led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds. Monique Rippingale finished just shy of a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds. Alexis Davis added seven points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Also of note, Kailee Maeda had a game-high seven assists on the night.

The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 1-2 in Cal Pac play (5-13 overall). The team will take a break from conference play on Thursday when they travel to The Master's College. Tip-off for Thursday's game is scheduled for 5:30pm.
