WBB Suffers Crushing Defeat to #12 The Master's College

Santa Clarita, Calif. - The Golden Eagles women's basketball team took a break from conference play to travel to #12 The Master's College, where they fell by a final of 102-37. The Golden Eagles fell to 5-15 on the season while the Mustangs improved to 19-2 on the year.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 23-0 lead over the first five minutes of the opening quarter and never looked back. La Sierra was held to single digit scoring in the first two quarters, while The Master's tallied over 25 points in three of the four quarters.

La Sierra was held to 21-percent shooting from the field and was out-rebounded 62-33 in the game.

The Mustangs, while ranked No. 12 in the nation (NAIA Division I) is currently leading the Golden State Athletic Conference with a perfect record of 9-0.

Rachel Hahn led the team in scoring with eight points, with Taylor Johnson notching six points and two rebounds. Alexis Davis scored five points and pulled down four rebounds, while Afolake Akingba (five rebounds) and Chelsie Baham each tallied four points. Senior Kristen Brummett was held scoreless but led the team with six rebounds.

The women's basketball team will now turn their focus back to conference play. The team will travel to northern California this upcoming weekend as they start Round 2 of conference play, at Cal Maritime and UC Merced.
