Oakland, Calif. - The Golden Eagles women's soccer team defeated Mills College, 2-1, to pick up their first win of the season. The victory pushes the team to 1-2 on the season, in their first road match of the season.
Jennifer Gonzalez (assisted by Deanna Gasca) got the scoring started and put the Golden Eagles up 1-0, with a goal in the 42nd minute, going into the halftime break.
The Cyclones tied the scored just two minutes into play of the second half, when Jessica Wong found the back of the net, assisted by Terrapin Frazier.
But the Golden Eagles would not be denied, as Gonzalez found Andrea Sida who connected for the match-winner in the 54th minute.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Cyclones 14-6, with both teams tallying three shots-on-goal apiece.
The women's soccer team will play the second match of a doubleheader, on Sunday afternoon, at Sierra Nevada College (Lake Tahoe, Calif.), at 2pm. Sunday's match will be the second of four straight road matches for the Golden Eagles women's soccer team.
