Lancaster, Calif. - The Pioneers of the University of Antelope Valley defeated the Golden Eagles this afternoon by a final of 4-1. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 0-5 in Cal Pac play (2-6 overall). All five goals scored in today's contest were scored in the first half of play.
The Pioneers scored the first four goals in a span of 32 minutes. The first two goals were two minutes apart, in the 13th and 15th minutes of play. Goals three and four came in the 27th minute and the 32nd minute. Adriana Zuniga led the way for the Pioneers by scoring two goals and notching one assist in the match. Bianca Gonzalez scored the other two goals for the Pioneers.
Andrea Sida, who capitalized on a penalty kick in the 36th minute of play, scored the lone Golden Eagles goal.
The team will play the second match of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. They will follow the men's match as the Golden Eagles host the men's and women's soccer teams from Simpson University. The women's match will begin at approximately 1pm.
