Santa Barbara, Calif. - Still looking to crack into the win column, the Golden Eagles men's basketball team struggled in their loss to #12 Westmont College, 49-90. It was the first game back after the Thanksgiving holiday for the Golden Eagles who will open conference play this coming Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles were held to just 25% shooting from the field, including 2-of-20 from the three-point line. Westmont capitalized on 17 turnovers by La Sierra, and converted them into 25 points. The Warriors shot 51% from the field including 40% from beyond the arc.
Reynaldo Solorzano came off of the bench to lead the Golden Eagles in scoring with 11 points, including 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Kyle Hamilton added nine points while Christian Jackson and Isaac Deese scored eight points each.
Lance Jones led the team with eight rebounds, with Solorzano pitching in with seven rebounds of his own.
The men's basketball team is now 0-8 to start the season and will look to turn the page quickly as they host the University of Antelope Valley on Saturday night in their home opener and Cal Pac opener. The Pioneers are 1-5 on the season thus far. La Sierra won both meetings between the two schools last season.
