Golden Eagles Fall to Mariners

Riverside, Calif. - The Golden Eagles baseball team dropped Friday's Cal Pac game versus Marymount University by a final of 9-4. The damp Friday afternoon, consisted of a 30-minute rain delay in which both teams entertained each other and those in attendance, but it was the Mariners who pulled out the victory in the end. Marymount held La Sierra to just one run through the first seven innings of play.

The Mariners scored in a run in each of the first three innings. La Sierra answered with a run in the 2nd inning, cutting the lead in half, at 2-1. But a 4-run 5th inning for the Mariners gave them a comfortable 7-1 lead, which they eventually pushed to 9-1, proved too much to overcome.

Dylan Lindsey finished with a 3-for-4 day while driving in one run for the Golden Eagles. Matt Zurita drove in a run with one hit and Michael Gonzalez also collected one hit, which resulted in a 2-run home run in the bottom half of the 8th inning.

Dylan Hatch went five complete innings to pick up the victory, while Jeremy Guerrero pitched 4 1/3 innings and was charged with the loss.

The team is scheduled to travel to Marymount on Sunday for a doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader will be played as a conference game while the second game is a non-conference contest. The same two teams will be back in action next Friday, here at La Sierra.
