Looking for their first win of the season, the Golden Eagles men's soccer team travelled to #14 Vanguard University for tonight's non-conference match-up, but fell short in a 2-0 decision.
The Lions scored their two goals in the first half on 10 total shots and finished the match with an 18-8 shot advantage (6-2 in shots on goal). Vanguard's Ivan Azpeita factored in on both goals by scoring unassisted (19th minute) to take a 1-0 lead, then setting up Jose Castillo for an insurance goal in the 28th minute, with Nathan Miramontes also picking up an assist on the goal.
The Golden Eagles men's soccer team will have another chance to get into the win column on Saturday night when they host San Diego Christian College in a non-conference match, at 8pm. The Hawks are 1-2 on the season. They defeated the Golden Eagles 2-0 last season in their only meeting between the two teams.
