Camacho Tosses A Complete Game Shutout As Softball Opens Season With Win Over Biola

La Mirada, Calif. - The Golden Eagles softball team took to the road for their season opening doubleheader, on Friday, at Biola University. La Sierra's Sarai Camach pitched a three-hit shutout and led the team to a 2-0 win to open the season. The second game of the doubleheader was suspended due to sunset and will be completed at a later date. Biola leads Game 2, 6-1, through four complete innings

The two teams played four scoreless innings, in Game 1, until the Golden Eagles broke the scoreless tie with Brittany Martinez driving in Hunter Alvarez with two outs in the top half of the fifth inning.

La Sierra added another run in the sixth inning when Taylor Gimondo doubled to left field, scoring Rebekah Barcenas.

Both sides were held in check, offensively speaking, for the most part with the Golden Eagles tallying a total of two runs on four hits, while Biola was held scoreless with three hits in the game.

Camacho pitched a complete game shutout, giving up three hits, with two strikeouts and two walks.

Game 2 is scheduled to be completed when Biola visits the Golden Eagles, on Friday, February 3.
