Golden Eagles Fall to UAV

Lancaster, Calif. - The University of Antelope Valley had five different players score in double-figure, en route to a 110-67 win over the Golden Eagles women's basketball team on Saturday night. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 2-6 in Cal Pac play (6-15 overall).

It was a fast paced game from the get-go as the Pioneers employed their system of creating turnovers and getting into their transition game.

For the first 10 minutes of play, La Sierra worked hard to keep pace, yet trailed 35-25 after the first quarter. But it was the second quarter of play where the Pioneers were able to put more distance between the two teams as they outscored the Golden Eagles 31-15, to take a 66-40 lead into the half.

In the second half of play, Antelope Valley's offense slowed down a bit but the Golden Eagles were unable to mount a sustained rally in order to cut into the lead.

Monique Rippingale led La Sierra in scoring with 12 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Elisa Mejia was the only other player who scored in double-figures for the Golden Eagles with 11 points in the game.

The Pioneers scored their 110 points, shooting a total of 103 total shots including 50 three-point attempts.

The women's basketball team will be out of action for a week until next Saturday night when they travel to Redding, California, to face Simpson University.
