Women's Soccer Suffer First Loss of Season to UAV

Riverside, Calif. - Unbeaten through their first eight matches of the season, including a 2-0 record in Cal Pac play, the Golden Eagles women's soccer team experienced defeat for the first time this season. The University of Antelope Valley defeated La Sierra, 6-0, in the Cal Pac match-up. Lucy Martinez notched a hat trick by scoring the first three goals for the Pioneers.

The Golden Eagles, who had their opportunities, were just unable to put them away. The Pioneers outshot La Sierra, 10-7 in total shots and 8-4 in shots on goal.

Antelope Valley connected on four of their six goals in the first half, on their way to their second conference win in as many opportunities.

The women's soccer team is now 8-1 on the season (2-1 in Cal Pac play). They are currently tied for third place in the conference standings with the University of California – Merced. The team will look to rebound in their next match, versus Mills College, on Sunday morning, at 11am. The Golden Eagles defeated the Cyclones, 5-0, back on September 15, up in Oakland, Calif.
