Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team got back on track by defeating Providence Christian College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-16). The win keeps the Golden Eagles a half game ahead of Antelope Valley, for second place in the conference standings, with the Pioneers holding the tie breaker between the two teams. La Sierra is now 7-3 in Cal Pac play (13-8 overall).
The Golden Eagles seemed to be in control for much of the match, despite a few runs that the Seabeggars were able to put together. While the team couldn't quite match their hitting performance against Simpson, they still hit an impressive .347 as a team, with 44 kills, 10 attack errors, on 98 total attempts.
La Sierra's outside hitters, Kiana Krumm and Michelle Mendizabal, paced the team with 13 kills each and individual hitting percentages over .400. Opposite hitter, Kiana Velasco, added seven kills with no attack errors, while freshman middle, Veronica Ramirez added five kills in the winning effort.
Marissa Fregoso had 19 of the team's 41 assists, and Hannah Schaffer finished with 11 assists on the night. Emily Morgan led the team defensively with 21 digs to go along with Krumm's 12 digs. Ramirez also led the team with three block assists; with three other players (Elizabeth Drogan, Briana Greely, Krumm) tallying two block assists each.
The team will play their final non-conference match of the season this coming Tuesday when they welcome Life Pacific College. The Warriors defeated the Golden Eagles, in straight sets, back on September 26. First serve on Tuesday evening is scheduled for 7pm at the Alumni Pavilion.
