Volleyball Splits Final Two Regular Season Matches, Drop to #4 Seed

Riverside, Calif. - After splitting the team's final two, regular season, Cal Pac matches this weekend, the women's volleyball team will now head into the playoffs. The Golden Eagles dropped Friday's match, to the University of California – Merced, 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-17) then defeated Pacific Union College in straight sets 25-20, 25-19, and 31-29. The women's volleyball team ends the regular season with a record of 8-6 on conference play and 15-11 overall.

With Friday's loss to UC Merced, the Golden Eagles fell to the number four seed and will play Embry-Riddle University, the number one seed, in Thursday's semifinal match. The Eagles finished the Cal Pac regular season with a perfect 14-0 record (26-3 overall). The defeated La Sierra in five sets, in Riverside, back on September 30, then completed the season sweep with a 3-1 on their home court, on October 27.

The other semifinal match will feature the University of Antelope Valley (10-4, 21-12) and the University of California – Merced (9-5, 9-14). The winner of each semifinal match will play for the Cal Pac Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament, on Saturday night. The Golden Eagles will have the advantage of playing on their home court as they look to win the tournament for the third straight year.
