Riverside, Calif. - The Golden Eagles baseball team dropped the final game of a 3-game series, on Sunday, losing 12-4 to the University of Antelope Valley. After splitting the first two games on Friday afternoon, La Sierra surrendered 12 runs over three innings. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 5-13 in Cal Pac play (13-21 overall).
It was the Golden Eagles who took the early lead with two runs in the 3rd inning followed by another run in the fifth inning, to take a 3-0 lead midway thorough the game. But the Pioneers struck for five runs in each of the 6th and 8th innings, with two sandwiched in between, in the 7th inning.
The Pioneers tallied 15 hits, compared to only four hits for the Golden Eagles.
Justin Jordan was 2-for-2 including a solo homerun. David Roman collected a 2-RBI single.
Jeremy Guerrero was charged with the loss after giving up five runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Next up for the baseball team will be a 3-game series versus Providence Christian College. The Golden Eagles will host the Sea Beggars on Thursday and Friday of this week.
