Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Golden Eagles Defeated By Hawks With A Goal In Closing Minutes

Santee, Calif. - On a hot and steamy afternoon, San Diego Christian College 1-0 outlasted the men's soccer team in today's non-conference match. A goal by the Hawks' Patrik Borchman, in the 88th minute, was the only goal scored by either team and was enough for the victory. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 0-3 on the season.

With temperatures over 100 degrees, the two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half and were on the verge of proceeding to extra time before Borchman and the Hawks changed those plans. It was the second straight match the Golden Eagles have lost by a goal being scored in the final minutes of regulation time.

By the numbers, the Golden Eagles dominated the offensive side of the ball. They outshot the Hawks 23-6, including 12-5 in shots on goal, but were unable to get a shot past goalkeeper Xaiver Snaer-Williams who picked up the win.

Felipe Mendizabal finished the match in goal, for the Golden Eagles, after replacing starting goalkeeper Javier Lopez who had to leave the match with heat related issues.

The team will get another crack at picking up their first win of the season this coming weekend when the Golden Eagles host The Master's University on Monday evening. Monday's kick-off is scheduled for 6pm.
