Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight With Sweep Over SDCC

Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team won their fourth straight contest with a sweep over San Diego Christian (25-19, 25-21, 25-19). The win pushed the Golden Eagles record to 5-3 on the season. They will travel north to open conference play this weekend.

Despite somewhat of a slow start, the Golden Eagles made the necessary adjustments in order to pull away and cruise to the 25-19 win in Set 1. The following two sets weren't that different, as the Golden Eagles were in complete control on the way to their fourth straight win.

As a team, the Golden Eagles combined for a .234 hitting percentage, with outside hitter Michele Mendizabal leading the way with 10 kills, against only two errors, on 25 attempts. Kiana Krumm added eight kills in the victory, while Kiana Velasco had six kills of her own.

Emily Morgan led all players with a total of 21 digs. Krumm added another nine digs along with two services aces. Noelle Hamblin also led all players with four block assists.

Tonight's match was not the final non-conference match of the season for the Golden Eagles but it was their final non-conference opponent before opening Cal Pac play this coming weekend. La Sierra will travel to Northern California for their first two Cal Pac contests. The Golden Eagles will face Simpson University (3pm) on Friday afternoon, followed by a Saturday night (8pm) match-up with Pacific Union College. The Red Hawks are 4-8 on the season, while the Pioneers have opened the season at 0-3.
