Santa Barbara, Calif. - Normally, you would think that a team entering the match with six match winning streak would have plenty of momentum on their side. However, the team on the other side of the net has a 15-match winning streak and is ranked number five in the nation. Needless to say, one of the streaks had to end on this night, and unfortunately for the Golden Eagles it was their streak that came to a halt. The Warriors of Westmont College defeated La Sierra in straight sets (25-12, 25-13, 25-17) to extend their winning streak to 16 matches and improve to 17-1 on the season. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 7-4 on the season (2-0 in the

Cal Pac).

The Warriors balanced attack showed why they are worthy of their Top-5 rating, as they compiled a team hitting percentage of .422. La Sierra struggled to a .057 hitting percentage, with 26 kills against 20 attack errors. The Warriors controlled the play at the net defensively as well with an 8-1 advantage in total team blocks.

Libby Dahlberg led all players with nine kills on the night, while Samantha Neely added another eight kills for the Warriors.

Michele Mendizabal led the Golden Eagles with seven kills, with Kiana Krumm adding six kills of her own.

Emily Morgan finished with a match-high 13 digs and Kiana Krumm pitched in with 11 digs in the effort. Marissa Fregoso, the reigning Cal Pac Setter of the Week, led the team with 13 assists to go along with four digs.

Up next for the women's volleyball team will be another Cal Pac match against Providence Christian College, this coming Saturday night. It's the fourth of five straight road matches for the Golden Eagles. The Sea Beggars are currently 1-1 in Cal Pac play (6-8 overall), having lost to Pacific Union College in five sets, and defeating Simpson in four sets. Saturday night's match will get underway at 8pm.
