Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mariners Defeat Golden Eagles 2-0

Riverside, Calif. - The Golden Eagles men's soccer team was unable to capitalize on a handful of prime scoring opportunities, to eventually fall, 0-2, to Marymount University. In what proved to be a physical, hard-fought match, the Golden Eagles ended up on the short end of a decision that dropped their record to 3-2 in Cal Pac play and an even 6-6 overall. The loss dropped the team to sixth place in the conference standings, with two big matches coming up next weekend, on the team's Arizona trip, that could impact the conference standings in a big way.

Holding a nearly 2-1 advantage in total shots and shots on goal, the Mariners scored each of their two goals in each of the two halves of play. The two teams combined for a total of 36 fouls, including 10 cards handed out along the way.

The team will look to rebound this coming Saturday night, when the men's soccer team hosts Pacific Union College in a Cal Pac match. The Pioneers are currently winless on the season and in search of their first win. Most recenlty, the Pioneers dropped a 3-2 decision, in a non-conference match, to Bethesda University. La Sierra holds an overall advantage of 7-0-1 over Pacific Union, including last season's 6-0 win over the Pioneers. Saturday night's match is scheduled for a 7:30pm start.
