Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team cruised to victory, in a straight set win over Providence Christian College (25-15, 25-17, 25-22). The team rebounded after dropping their first match on Saturday night, since losing back on September 15. The Golden Eagles started a new streak, in their second to last home match of the season. The team will now embark on a five-match road trip before closing out the regular season, at home, on November 3.
Tonight's win pushed the team's record to 8-3 in Cal Pac play and 13-11 overall. The Golden Eagles used some late runs in each of the three sets to walk away with the victory, against a Seabeggars squad that took the Golden Eagles to five sets, before eventually falling, in their first meeting of the season, back on September 21. The Golden Eagles squashed any thoughts of a repeat of the previous meeting by taking complete control of the first two sets. They were able to answer and survive all mini-runs put together by the Seabeggars to hold them off and pick up the win.
Three Golden Eagles players reached the double-figures mark in kills, with Ashlin Orosco and Kiana Krumm each finishing with 11 kills in the match, both were match-highs. Veronica Ramirez sealed the victory with her 10thkill of the night.
Emily Morgan and Angala Jensen also notched match-highs with 21 digs and 36 assists, respectively.
While the Golden Eagles held a 47-21 advantage in total kills, and a .227-.021 advantage in hitting percentage, the Seabeggars did finish with 10 total blocks, compared to only four for La Sierra.
The women's volleyball team will travel to Marymount University, on Saturday night, looking to keep pace in the Cal Pac standings. The Golden Eagles defeated the Mariners, 3-0, in their first meeting this season. Saturday night's match will be played at El Camino Community College, at 7:30pm.
