Men's Soccer Falls Short in Loss to Simpson

Riverside, Calif. - Simpson's two first half goals, held up for a 2-1 victory over the Golden Eagles, in Thursday's Cal Pac match. It was a desperate Red Hawks team, who picked up their second conference win on the verge of being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The Golden Eagles fall to 7-9 on the season and 4-5 in Cal Pac play. The loss by La Sierra, and the win by Simpson, keeps a handful of teams alive for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Cal Pac standings.

Nyjel Buchanan made six saves in goal for the Red Hawks and thwarted some prime scoring opportunities. La Sierra also had a ball hit off the crossbar and a few other open shots that missed high or wide.

Simpson scored their two goals in a span of seven minutes in the first half of play. Jessie Aramburo pulled the Golden Eagles to within one goal (assisted by Felipe Mendizabal), with La Sierra's lone goal of the match, in the 58thminute.

With just two regular season contests remaining, the Golden Eagles will now turn their attention to Providence Christian College. La Sierra will travel to Providence, next Thursday, before returning home for their regular season finale, versus the University of California – Merced, on Sunday, November 4.
