Riverside, Calif. - La Sierra University hosted the College of Idaho, in a non-conference women's basketball match-up, on Thursday night. The Yotes walked away with their first win of the season, after defeating the Golden Eagles by a final of 67-55. The loss drops the team to 2-5 on the season, as the team prepares for another road game on Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles connected on just three of their 15 three-point attempts, and shot just 33-percent from the field. The Yotes struggled as well from beyond the arc (3-for-20), but outrebounded La Sierra, 51-38, which included 22 offensive rebounds.
The Yotes outscored the Golden Eagles in three of the four quarters, with the excepting being the third quarter in which La Sierra finished with a slim, 18-15, advantage. After trailing 34-24 at the halftime break, the Golden Eagles pulled to within four points, 32-36, early in the third quarter but they were unable to get any closer.
Alexis Davis converted nine of 16 shot attempts, in addition to shooting 4-of-4 from the free throw line, to finish with 22 points and eight rebounds, both team-highs. Arianna Sheehy was the only other Golden Eagles player to score in double figures, with a total of 10 points and seven rebounds.
The women's basketball team will visit Biola University, on Saturday night, for a non-conference game. Saturday's tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
