Riverside, Calif. - The women's soccer season came to a close on Sunday. The 2018 campaign ended with a narrow 0-1 loss to the University of California – Merced. The team finishes the season with a .500 record of 5-5 in conference play, and a record of 8-6 overall. Prior to Sunday's match, the team recognized three seniors, Alicia Garcia, Tania Guerrero, and Perla Teran, who played in their final collegiate soccer match of their career.
In what proved to be a relatively even match, based on the final stats and the play on the field, the Bobcats early goal, in the sixth minute of play, held up for the remainder of the match. Merced did finish with a slight advantage in total shots, 14-11, while both teams finished the match with an equal number of shots-on-goal (7).
The women's soccer team end the season in sixth place in the conference standings, out of a total of 11 teams.
The team will now shift their focus towards next season. Please stay tuned for any and all recruiting news during the course of the off-season.
