Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball season came to an end with the Golden Eagles, 1-3 (21-25, 26-24, 23-25, 18-25), loss to Benedictine University, in last night's semifinal match. The two teams split the two regular season matches, with each team winning on their home court. Thursday's night's match was a neutral court match, in which the Redhawks came out on top. Benedictine will advance to play Embry-Riddle University, who defeated the University of California – Merced, in straight sets. La Sierra ends their season with an overall record of 19-12 on the season, including a 13-3 mark in Cal Pac play.
After dropping Set 1, the Golden Eagles answered back to win Set 2, 26-24, and tie the match at 1-1. The third set proved to be the most pivotal in the match for La Sierra. It was a back-and-forth affair, with each team holding their share of the lead, but the Redhawks took the narrow victory, 25-23, and never looked back. Benedictine rode the momentum into Set 4 and closed the match out with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Kiana Krumm led the team with 18 kills in addition to 13 digs. She was joined by Ashlin Oroscto and Veronica Ramirez, who finished the match with 14 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Angala Jensen distributed the offense and tallied 43 assists and contributed 10 digs, while Emily Morgan led the team with 16 digs. Freshmen Trinity Wyscarver also added 11 digs of her own.
