MBB: Deese Reaches 1000 and Brisbane Scores Career High

The men's basketball team split the final two games of the season. The team fell to Benedictine University, 93-81, but then rebounded to win the season finale, on senior night, 80-75 over Embry-Riddle University. In Thursday's loss to the Red Hawks, senior guard Isaac Deese reached and surpassed the 1,000 points scored mark in his collegiate career. And in Saturday night's win over the Eagles, senior guard Curtis Brisbane notched a career high 23 points to lead the team to victory. The Golden Eagles finish the season with a record of 5-9 in Cal Pac play and 9-19 overall.

La Sierra – 81, Benedictine – 93

The Red Hawks used a 17-0 run, early in the second half, to overcome a 43-40 halftime defecit and defeat the Golden Eagles. Freshmen guard DJ Everage came off of the bench to lead the team with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Kenny Lewis was 3-for-5 from three-point range and finished with 15 points, while Deese added 14 points including his 1000th point as a member of the Golden Eagles.

La Sierra – 80, Embry-Riddle – 75

The Golden Eagles were able to overcome a 38-35 halftime defecit and trailed by as many as nine points in the second half. But Curtis Brisbane sparked a second half comeback by shooting 4-of-5 from three-point range and 6-of-9 from the field on his way to setting a career high in points scored in his final game. More impressive was the fact that Brisbane scored all 23 points in the second half alone. The only other player to join him in double figures was Isaac Deese who finished with 18 points in the win.
