Golden Eagles Split with Firestorm

Riverside, Calif. – The Golden Eagles softball team split their non-conference doubleheader with Arizona Christian University. La Sierra won the first game by a final of 4-3, but the Firestorm answered back in the second game with a 9-3 win. La Sierra's record now sits at 9-14-1 overall and 1-1 in Cal Pac play.

La Sierra – 4, ACU – 3

The Firestorm took the early lead with two runs in the first inning, but the Golden Eagles got one back in the bottom half of the inning. Arizona Christian pushed the lead back to two with a run in the top half of the second inning. Trailing 3-1, La Sierra took the lead for good when they scored three runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Neither team scored after the third, as the Golden Eagles hung on for the victory.

Taylor Ross tallied three of the team's four RBI's with a 2-for-2 game. Hunter Alvarez collected two hits, while Jamie Roe had a homerun in the victory. Sarai Camacho picked up the victory with a complete game win, giving up three runs on five hits.

La Sierra – 3, ACU – 9

After scoring three run in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead, the Golden Eagles were held scoreless over the next six innings and surrendered nine runs over that span to the Firestorm who salvaged the split.

The Golden Eagles managed just five hits in the game with two hits coming in the first inning alone. Aimee Rodriguez led the team with two of the five hits. Megan Dalton pitched 1 2/3 innings and left the game with the two teams tied at 3-3. Kristen Hernandez was charged with the loss after coming in to relieve Dalton in the second inning.

The Golden Eagles softball team will take a short break for final exams this week before jumping back on the field this coming Friday when they host William Jessup University. La Sierra will host the Warriors for a non-conference doubleheader getting underway at 1pm.
