Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team were on the road but didn't have to travel too far, in tonight's non-conference match at California Baptist University. The Lancers, who are in their first year of NCAA Division I competition, defeated the Golden Eagles in straight sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-14). It was the programs first ever match against Cal Baptist, who are just a few miles down the road from La Sierra University.

The Lancers finished the match with a blistering .453 hitting percentage and outhit the Golden Eagles 50-18 in total kills. Cal Baptist had three players finish the match with 10 kills each. La Sierra's Ashlin Orosco led the team with seven kills, while setter Angala Jensen had 14 assists and Emily Morgan led the way with nine digs.

La Sierra will open Cal Pac play this weekend, on the road, in Arizona. The Golden Eagles will face Embry-Riddle University, the defending conference champions, on Friday afternoon. The will end the road trip with a match, at Benedictine University – Mesa, on Saturday night. The two matches will be final two matches of five straight road matches for the Golden Eagles, who will return home on September 18 to host San Diego Christian College.
