Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team evened their Cal Pac record at 2-2 and improved to 6-10 on the season, with tonight's straight set win over Marymount University (25-16, 25-22, 25-15). The Golden Eagles were in complete control for two of the three sets, having to come from behind with the help of a 6-0 run to take Set 2. The team has now won three straight matches for the first time this season.
La Sierra controlled the play at the net, both offensively and defensively. The team finished with 10 total team blocks and outhit the Mariners, .280 to .099. They also compiled 45 kills on the night, compared to 31 for Marymount.
For the third straight match it has been the efficient attack by Veronica Ramirez that has led the way for La Sierra. Ramirez finished in double-digits once again with 12 kills, only two errors, on 24 attempts (.417). Ashlin Orosco was the only other Golden Eagles player to finish in double-figures in kills, with 10.
Ramirez also led the team with three solo blocks and three block assists, while Kiana Krumm led the team with 13 digs to go along with eight kills. Emily Morgan and Trinity Wyscarver contributed to the defensive effort as well, as they each notched 12 digs in the win.
Tonight's match was the first of five straight home matches for the Golden Eagles. The volleyball team has a busy week ahead of them. On Tuesday, the team will welcome Life Pacific College, for a non-conference match, before closing the week with three straight Cal Pac matches on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
