WBB Drop Both Conference Games on Arizona Trip

The women's basketball team, who were looking to win their third straight Cal Pac contest, dropped both games during this weekend's Arizona trip. The Golden Eagles fell 38-69, at Benedictine University, on Thursday, then lost 44-98, at Embry-Riddle University, on Saturday night. The losses drop the team's record to 2-3 in the Cal Pac standings (5-13 overall).

Benedictine def. La Sierra, 69-38

In Thursday's conference match-up, the Golden Eagles were unable to find their rhythm in the second half. The team shot just 3-for-23 in the half and were outscored 38-17 in the half, as the Redhawks cruised to victory. The Golden Eagles trailed 31-21 at the half, but were unable to put a dent into that lead and get back into the game.

Arianna Sheehy and Sierra Cole led the team in scoring with each tallying a total of seven points in the loss. Octavia Williams scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Alexis Davis notched five points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Embry-Riddle def. La Sierra, 98-44

Embry-Riddle carried momentum from Thursday's upset win over #10 University of Antelope Valley, in their convincing win over the Golden Eagles on Saturday night. ERAU came out on fire from the perimeter and jumped out to a 32-7 lead after just the first quarter of play. In the first half alone, the Eagles shot 13-for-21 (62%) from beyond the arc, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the three-point line in the first quarter. By the halftime break, the Eagles held a comfortable 60-16 lead and never looked back.

Embry-Riddle finished with a total of six players who scored in double-digits, while Sheehy was the only Golden Eagles player who scored in double figures with 11 points, to go along with six rebounds. Davis had nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The women's basketball team will look to turn the page as they return home for their next two contests. On Thursday evening, the team will host #22 University of California – Merced (4-1, 16-4), followed by a Saturday night match-up with Simpson University (4-1, 12-7). Thursday night's game will tip-off at 530pm, while Saturday night's game is scheduled for a 630pm start.
