Riverside, Calif. - The men's basketball team dropped to 0-3, in Cal Pac play, with two losses over the weekend to Pacific Union College and California State University – Maritime. On Thursday, the Golden Eagles squandered an opportunity and dropped a 69-82 decision to Pacific Union College. They followed that loss up with a 62-86 loss to the Keelhaulers of CSU Maritime Academy. The losses drop the team's record to just 2-12 on the season.

After cutting the lead to just one point, late in the second half, the Golden Eagles were unable to complete the comeback after the Pioneers used a timely run to pull away for the victory.
Kyle Hamilton and Kenny Lewis each scored 16 points in the contest, while Zac Phororo added 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Jacob Angel pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, followed by Lewis who finished with seven rebounds.
Maritime def La Sierra, 86-62
The Golden Eagles were outplayed by an energized Keelhaulers team who picked up their first conference win of the season. While both teams played to a relatively even second half, the Golden Eagles were unable to climb out of a 47-27 deficit that they found themselves in, after the first half of play.
Lewis led the team in scoring with 16 points in addition to six rebounds. DJ Everage added 13 points, two blocks, and three steals, while Hamilton pitched in with 10 points and seven rebounds. Saladine Ganda finished with a game-high 13 rebounds and just missed out on his first double-double of the season with nine points.
The team will look to pick up their first conference win this weekend when they travel to Arizona for games at Benedictine University (Thursday) and Embry-Riddle University (Saturday).
