Volleyball Picks Up Two Wins

After opening conference with two losses, the Golden Eagles bounce back with a 3-set win at Marymount California University. La Sierra then hosted Providence Christian College where they picked up another win. La Sierra is now 11-5 overall and 2-2 in Cal Pac play.

La Sierra def. Marymount California, 3-0 (25-23,25-18,25-10)

The Golden Eagles swept Marymount with a dominating performance in three sets. Marymount had no player reach double-figures in kills. The Golden Eagles had eleven more kills as a team than Marymount with a total of 36 (.216) to Marymount's 25 (.027). Mariah Morris led the match with 10 kills (.400) and Kiana Krumm (.077) and Adiva Joseph (.278) assisted the attack by picking up 7 kills each. Trinity Wyscarver led the Golden Eagles defense by picking up 25 digs.

La Sierra def. Providence Christian, 3-1 (22-25,25-21,25-19,25-19)

Providence jumped out to the early lead in Set 1 with a 25-22 win. Despite the Golden Eagles falling in the first set, they managed to take the next three to come away with the 3-1 win for the match.

The Golden Eagles had three different hitters in double-digits, led by Kiana Krumm's 17 kills. Veronica Ramirez had 14 kills (.706) and Adiva Joseph had 10 kills for the match. Angala Jensen had 46 assists to Providence's team total of 37 assists. Trinity Wyscarver and Angala Jensen both picked up 9 digs.

The women's volleyball team is only a quarter of the way through conference play. On Thursday evening, the Golden Eagles will travel to Simpson University for a conference match starting at 7:30pm. The team will close the weekend by traveling to Pacific Union College and UC Merced for two more conference matches.
