The Golden Eagles men's basketball team split back to back games over the weekend against two Adventist Colleges, Walla Walla University and Washington Adventist College.
La Sierra faced Walla Walla first, and held on for a 66-58 win. La Sierra jumped out to a big lead in the first half, eventually holding a 12 point lead at half, 42-30. Some cold shooting in the second half saw Walla Walla creep back into the game and eventually take a two point lead. Some big shots late and made free throws helped the Golden Eagles win a very tight game.
The next night, La Sierra faced 12th ranked Washington Adventist College, and the Golden Eagles gave them all they could handle. After Washington Adventist jumped out to a big early lead, the Golden Eagles fought back with great defense and rebounding, cutting a 22 point second half deficit down to 8, but could get no closer. Washington Adventist held on for an 11 point victory, 87-76. DJ Everage and Uriel Lejtman each scored 21 points and Ivan Egbunike added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the Eagles.
La Sierra hits the road Wednesday for their last game before the Christmas holiday. The Golden Eagles travel to Fullerton to take on NAIA Div 1 Hope International who is 10-1 and ranked #15 in the NAIA Division 1 polls. Tip time is 5 pm.
