The women's volleyball team opened their conference season this weekend at home. The team had the tough task of starting the Cal Pac season with Benedictine University, who defeated the Golden Eagles in five sets, on Friday afternoon. The team quickly regrouped for a Saturday night match-up with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Embry-Riddle prevailed in a hard fought 5-set win over La Sierra. With the two losses, the women's volleyball team drops to 0-2 in Cal Pac play and 9-5 overall.

After dropping the first set, by a narrow margin, the Golden Eagles seemed to find some rhythm by winning the next set in a convincing fashion. La Sierra unfortunately was unable to close things out, eventually dropping the match in five sets.
Kiana Krumm led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills (.149) against 10 errors, on 47 attempts. Veronica Ramirez followed with 14 kills (.480), two blocks and four block assists. The Golden Eagles finished with 67 digs, led by Kyrsti Photias' 16 digs.
Embry-Riddle def. La Sierra 3-2 (25-22,25-16,20-25,21-25,5-15)
La Sierra jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the match, with convincing wins in the first two sets. Embry-Riddle closed out the Golden Eagles in the next three sets. The Eagles outhit the Golden Eagles by a narrow margin of 52-50 in total kills, including a hitting percentage of .176 to La Sierra's .172.
Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles had a great performance. Kiana Krumm once again led the Golden Eagles offense with 17 kills (.231). Adiva Joseph assisted in the attack with 14 kills (.118) of her own. Angala Jensen and Trinity Wyscarver tallied 17 digs and 14 digs.
The team will continue Cal Pac conference play by travelling Thursday evening to take on Marymount California University and then hosting Providence Christian College Saturday evening to finish the week.
