Saturday's loss to Simpson, senior guard DJ Everage reached and surpassed the 1,000 points scored mark in his collegiate career. Everage currently leads the team in three categories; points per game (16.25), assists per game (5.10), steals per game (1.5). Everage ranks 8th in NAIA DII for assists per game.
La Sierra – 70, Simpson – 76
The first half was tightly contested with four lead changes and six ties. The Red Hawks took the largest lead of the half (7) but the two teams would head to the locker room with the score tied at 33.
La Sierra shot 42 percent from the floor connecting on 24 of 57 shots and found the net on 38 percent of their shots from behind the arc. Simpson 42 percent from the floor and 30 percent from behind the arc. The Golden Eagles shot 70 percent from the free throw line while Simpson shot 75 percent from the line.
The loss to Simpson University ends the first round of conference play. The Golden Eagles are 5-18 overall and 0-7 in conference. The men's basketball team will host the University of Antelope Valley, on Saturday night, to begin their second trip through the Cal Pac schedule. The Pioneers defeated La Sierra in their conference opener, back on January 4. Antelope Valley currently sits atop the conference standings with a record of 7-0 in Cal Pac play. Saturday night's game is scheduled to tip-off at approximately 830pm.
