Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

The Men's Soccer Season Comes to an end and Conference Awards Announced

The La Sierra University men's soccer season has come to an end after losing 2-4 to Westcliff in the opening round of the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) Championship Tournament, held in Merced, Calif.

The Golden Eagles end their season with an overall record of 9-7, 6-2 in conference play.

We would like to congratulate Anthony Garcia for being named, Cal Pac Freshman of the Year.

We would also like to congratulate, Anthony Garcia for earning First Team All Cal Pac Conference Recognition and Andy Aguilar and Ivan Villagrana for their Honorable Mentions.

It was a pleasure watching you all play. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifices to make this season happen!

The 2021 All California Pacific Conference Men's Soccer Teams have a very international flavor this season. Almost half of the 23 players voted to the two teams by the conference coaches call another country home. At the top of that international list is this year's Player of the Year, Westcliff forward Quentin Hornung. The junior from Geneva, Switzerland is one of 10 players voted to the First and Second teams this Fall, and another three come from states outside the Cal Pac region, making it 13 of the 23 players not from California or Arizona.

UC Merced senior Juan Flores, last year's Player of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-American, is the only player to repeat from the 2020 First Team. Five other players, however, were voted to an All-Cal Pac team for a second time. This year's top offensive player, Nicklaus Sullivan of Park-Gilbert, was a First Team pick this year and a Second Team in 2020, as was UCM's Michael De La Cruz. Embry-Riddle's Jarred Petersen was a Second Team pick in 2019, and a First Team pick this year. Antelope Valley's Huseyin Celik was named to the Second Team this year, as he was in 2019. Finally, ERAU's Jacob Baker and Marymount California's Randy Martinez were both Second Team selections this year and in 2018.
