Men's Soccer Picks Up Win in Cal Pac Opener

Temecula, Calif. – The Golden Eagles picked up a win in their Cal Pac opener against University of Saint Katherine (0-6) with a 1-0 victory over the Firebirds.

The Golden Eagles played strong defense in a physical match-up, only allowing the Firebirds to get six shots off in the entire match, none of which resulted in points on the scoreboard, keeping both sides scoreless at the half.

The Golden Eagles attack picked up in the second half with an onslaught of shots taken, starting with Damian Romero's attempt at the 47 minute, sailing over the crossbar. Brennen Chanty was next up with a shot on goal at the 55 minute, but the Goalkeeper game up with the save. Minutes later, Alexander Keele would have a go, but his shot attempt went high. Keeping their momentum going, Damian Romero took two more shots on goal, just one minute apart at the 62 and 63 minute of the match, both being saved by the Goalkeeper. At the 67 minute, the Golden Eagles' continued attack finally paid off, when Alexander Keele was able to capitalize off an assist by Brennen Chanty, putting the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The score would hold until the final whistle blew.
