EL CAJON, Calif. – The La Sierra University Women's Volleyball Program traveled to San Diego Christian College (7-5) for a matchup with the Hawks, on Saturday night. Unfortunately, it wasn't the Golden Eagles night, as the Hawks came out on top after four sets (24-26, 25-22,13-25, 20-25), winning the match 3-1.
In the first set, the Golden Eagles started out on fire, leading by more than six points throughout the match, until the Hawks came swooping back to grab the lead after a service that earned them five straight points, winning the set 26-24.
The Golden Eagles weren't about to drop the second set, leading from the first serve and never looking back, they would tally 12 kills, helping them secure the win in the set 25-22.
After the impressive play in the second set, the Golden Eagles struggled to find their rhythm in the third set, allowing the Hawks to control momentum and soar to a 25-13 win.
The Golden Eagles clawed their way back in the fourth and final set, to bring the score within four points, but it wasn't to be, as the Hawks were able to hang on for the win (25-22).
The Golden Eagles had 33 kills on the night; Adiva Joseph led the effort with 8 kills, followed by seven from Bailey Coffin and another six from Alexa Lister. Setter, Tamia Cephus ended with 17 assists. Libero, Trinity Wyscarver anchored the defense with 31 digs.
Head Coach, Erin Sintek said, "I thought we played well, but we're all still learning as a team and trying to find our rhythm. These girls work hard and the dedication is there. It's getting the pieces to fit."
Next up, the Golden Eagles host, Providence Christian College, March 3.
