MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DROP CONFERENCE OPENERS IN LAST SECONDS

Irvine, Calif. - The La Sierra University Men's and Women's Basketball Teams opened California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) play last night on the road, dropping both games to Westcliff University in the final seconds of play.

The women's basketball team was defeated with mere seconds in regulation play (59-61), while the men's basketball team was defeated in overtime (72-81).

Four members of the men's basketball team scored in double digits. Leading the offense in points, were senior guard, DJ Everage and junior forward, Uriel Lejtman, both with 17 points, followed by 14 points by senior guard, Marc Hall and a double-double posted by junior guard, Patric Panoosi with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Three members of the women's basketball team scored in double digits, lead by senior guard, Ariana Quintana, with a team high 17 points. Senior guard, Sydney Wallner had 14 points and junior forward, Luiza Rodrigues added 14 points.  Senior guard, Kayla De Leon lead the team in total rebounds, pulling down 10.

The men's basketball team is 4-9 overall, 0-1 in Cal Pac, while the women's basketball team is 7-8 overall, 0-1 in Cal Pac.

Both teams are on the road as they travel to Central and Northern California, continuing conference play with matchups against UC Merced (Merced, Calif.) Jan. 15th and Simpson University (Redding, Calif.) Jan. 17th.
