Women's Soccer Drops Match to USK

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Golden Eagles hosted The University of Saint Katherine (San Marcos, Calif.) to a sunset game, at La Sierra University. The Friday evening match ended in a 2-0 loss, despite the hard work, and sweat that these ladies put in.

USK was able to score in the first half, with not much time left. With less than five minutes on the clock, Hannah Hadland found some wiggle room to score a goal, with an assist from teammate Alyssa Meza.

Without giving up yet, La Sierra midfielder, Leslie Lopez, shot to score near the end of the first, however the shot was too high, therefore continuing to battle in the second half.

To start the second half, USK fouled, forcing the ball to be in La Sierra's possession. With passes going back and forth, USK found the net once again in the 54th minute, leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 loss.

Without a doubt, La Sierra put up a good fight with 2 saves in the first half by goal keeper Savannah Velasquez and 1 in the second half by goal keeper Peyton Reynoso. Tying at 9 shots each, both teams played hard, and are now ready to move forward to learn from their mistakes, and take their advantages with them.

Although La Sierra's Golden Eagles went scoreless in this match, they fought hard and will continue to improve their game.

Up next: La Sierra hosts Benedictine University Mesa Saturday, October 8 at 7 pm.
